Above and beyond this, all Platform staff are not only teachers who are judged for being outstanding in their classroom but also work at management level within their own teaching schools and are constantly training and adopting new, exciting practice to develop themselves and their colleagues. They aim to promote the very best learning for the students they teach. David Hilton – Principal, Creative Director and Teacher of Dance, Drama & Singing

David is on the leadership team at a local secondary school with a range of responsibilities including Director of Teacher Development. He has been an Academy Improvement Leader across a local Trust of schools and Evidence Leader in Education with the Research Schools Network, Area Leader in Expressive Arts, Lead Facilitator for The Vantage Teaching School Hub and Tutor Coordinator for Newly Qualified Teachers.

Previous roles: Director of Performing Arts and Lead Teacher for Learning.

Hayley Lawes – Dance Teacher

Hayley is our highly qualified Dance teacher who trained at Professional Musical Theatre College and has experience performing in the UK and touring overseas. Hayley also teaches Performing Arts, as well as the Careers Leader at a local High School.

John Hancock – Singing Teacher

John is a Baritone singing teacher and multi-instrumentalist who graduated from The University Of Hull with a Bachelor of Arts in Popular Music and a PGCE in secondary school teaching. An ITT Qualified School Teacher, John also holds two London College Of Music Diplomas in singing performance and is an elected member of the Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain, a prestigious organisation dating back to the 1700’s. 

John is a working musician who performs all over the UK both as a solo vocalist and with professional function bands. His passion for music, and belief that every child should have access to music, is the fuel behind his teaching success.

James Aygun – Drama Teacher and Assistant Creative Director

James has a BA(Hons) degree in Drama and diploma in Television Acting at YAFYA. James is teacher trained and has a PGSE qualification in teaching. Previously to this, he worked in a local secondary school as an LSA to SEND learners.
